Everyone has his own dreams and wishes. I also do the same. In fact, some of my dreams and wishes are slowly coming true. If you work hard for it, you can simply achieve it! Hard work and perseverance is always the key of reaching your dreams.

I still have one wish that I am hoping to come true this year. I wish to watch a live orchestra or opera show in Europe. Whether it is in the London Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Rome Philharmonic Orchestra, etcetera, anywhere in Europe would do for me, as long as I experience it live. Oktoberfest is held annually in this are called Theresienwiese in Munich. It is a 16- to 18-day folk festival running from mid or late September to the first weekend in October. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since 1810. Read more… »

I can’t complain at the moment but I just wish that I am in the other side of the world right now. If traveling is only for free, I will surely visit every corner of this beautiful planet.

Let’s go back to the main topic. I am already missing a lot of fun this summer. Since I work full time, I don’t have so much time anymore to enjoy the festivals going around in Europe especially here in Germany. At the moment, some fairs are going on in the nearby towns and cities. Read more… »

There are many festivals you can experience in Germany.  Whatever time  and season it is  of  the year, festivities are all year round.   I miss this interesting festival known as Tillyfest. It is celebrated annually in Breitenbrunn every month of September. My last visit in Tillyfest was in 2010. I should be going there last year but it was a conflict with my other appointment.

This is so far the biggest festival in this town. It is visited by locals and tourists. Americans who live and work in the US Army  Training Area in Hohenfels are also visiting it.    Tillyfest is actually a historic festival in commemoration of Johann Tserclaes von Tilly during the Thirty Years’ War in 1618-1648. It is carnival time! I wish I am  in Rio de Janiero now to witness its famous Rio Carnival.  It is quite a long way from Europe and this time it is  just not  possible.  I am hoping I can visit it one day.   This world’s famous carnaval  or carnival is held every year before Lent. It is visited by millions of people from all corners of the world. This year’s carnival in Rio de Janiero will take place from February 28 to March 4, 2014.

Although I have not witness the  Rio  Carnival yet, I am happy that I already witnessed  such festivities in Europe like the Fasching in Germany. Read more… »

It was a wonderful winter trip in Leipzig! The weather was not so cold and the sun was shining. From our hotel in Schwarzheide, it took us over two hours to reach the city of Leipzig. It was a bus trip and buses usually have limited speed in German autobahn or highway. If I am not mistaken, bus drivers are only allowed up to 100 km/h. If you are driving your own car, it is quite faster because you can drive faster on the highway.

I haven’t been to the famous Fasching or carnivals in Germany like in Mainz, Cologne and Düsseldorf but I have been to some  Fasching parades in Bavaria.  This is one of the celebrations I love to witness in this region.

One of the places where I experienced a Fasching or carnival parade is in Hemau. This is town in the district of Regensburg in Bavaria, Germany. Hemau is a historic town. The area around Hemau was settled in pre-Roman times. Of archeological interest are the remains of two Celtic settlements (Keltenschanzen) in the nearby villages of Laufenthal and Thonlohe. I am trying to remember some trips I did last 2013. I have a lot to share visiting 23 European countries last year but my time is always limited. I am such a very busy person and never gets bored when I am at home. 2013 was so far the most-travelled year I experienced in my life. I might not be able to do it again this year but for sure, I will be travelling again soon.

Maribor is one of the cities I visited in Europe last spring  2013. It is the second largest city in Slovenia. It is located near the Slovenian border with Austria, beside the Drava River. We had a limited time during our visit but I made the most of it seeing some of its sights. Read more… »

DE.Leipzig.DSC_2998 Happy new year 2014 once again! I hope I can share more travel experiences this year. I will try my best to be more diligent so that I can continue to get you posted with my previous travels. I have a lot to share but  sometimes, time is just limited.

Let me continue with my topic here. I believed you already know about Germany’s city with the most shopping arcades. It is stated in my post title and yes, it is Leipzig. This historic city is located in the federal state of Saxony, Germany, around 150 kilometres (93 miles) south of Berlin. Read more… »
